"FRESHWATER" | book | audiobook 2018 | by Akwaeke Emezi

FRESHWATER is based on Emezi's own experiences:"their art practice is located in the metaphysics of Black spirit and uses video, performance, writing, and sculpture to create rituals processing their embodiment as a nonhuman entity/an ogbanje/a deity's child". The protagonist Ada lives in southern Nigeria with her loving parents, but faces troubles. "Born with one foot on the other side, she begins to develop separate selves. When Ada travels to America for college, a traumatic event crystallizes the selves into something more powerful.".

"When Rabbit Howls" | book | audiobook | 1987 | by Truddi Chase & the Troops

Truddi & the Troops wrote When Rabbit Howls as an autobiography after starting therapy. The book is written from the perspective of the 92 Troops in the system.
